Adding a Google Wavelet to your wordpress blog
Now that more and more people are getting access to Google Wave it's getting interesting to use it.
Google Wave has allot of possibilities but one of the coolest is the possibility to embed a wavelet to your blog.
Adding a Wavelet is quite easy and isn't that different from adding some other kind of media to your blog.
To do this just follow these simple steps:
- Install the wavr plugin on your wordpress blog and activate it.
- Start writing a new blogpost (Notice that there is a Google Wave button in your Kitchen Sink now)
- Click the button and fill in the ID of your Wavelet (don't forget to change %253B to +)
For example googlewave.com!w%252Bda8ZC1YwA.1 changes to googlewave.com!w+da8ZC1YwA.1 - Fill in the other stuff you want to change, things like the backgroundcolour or the font
- Publish your post
You'll still need to remember one important thing, people need a Google Wave account and should be logged in to see the Wavelet. Also don't forget to make the Wavelet public. Below you can see an example.

Stolen Google wave accounts
It seems that some people of the feline race have been hacking in the Google database and stole some account credentials.

Knowmore: a handy database
It's easy to say that you won't support companies with dirty hands.

Well you can start by searching for the company on the internet, to be more specific you can search for the company on KnowMore. KnowMore is a database that provides detailed information and ratings for a broad range of companies.
If you search for a company on the site what information can you expect?
- Does the company respect worker and human rights
- How does the company stand towards fair trade
- What is there to know about the companies business ethics
- Is the company involved with politics
- Does the company take care for the environment
The database is far from complete, but it still grows.
It's possible that you won't find the company that you search for, but the most of the major brands are found on the
site.
So if you want to shop with your concience, check a company before buying anything.

Hate groups in your area (only in the United States)
While surfing the tubes I found upon this interesting site.
The site has this overlay for googlemaps that adds a layer. Nothing special you'd think.
True there are allot of overlays for googlemaps, however this one layer show us something quite disturbing.
The only thing that it shows are which hate groups there are in a state and where in the state that the groups are situated.
Is it a coincidence that California and Texas are the two states with the most groups?

WordPress Update Errors
Today I've encountered a rather annoying problem.
A friend of mine told me that there was a bug in the current WP version and that I needed to upgrade.
As it was a quite annoying bug (one that made it possible to ask for a password reset without confirmation),
I decided to upgrade as soon as possible. And I still curse that moment...
After the upgrade I wasn't able to upload or install things on my page. Still getting the same messages over and over again:
"Unable to locate WordPress Content directory (wp-content)"
"Warning: ftp_rawlist (): open_basedir restriction in effect. File (/tmp) is not within the allowed path(s)"
At first I just scratched my head and tried again, but the error was quite consistent, as it came back every time it tried.
Then I started to check all my files on the server, and just like I expected everything looked just like it's supposed to be.
Perhaps there went something wrong with the upgrade, so I decided to restore a backup. To my greatest horror the restore gave the same result. That was the moment that I started to search the tubes for more information.
Now we're a little hour later and I found a sollution.
- In your WP root create a folder called "tmp"
- Then ad the following string to your wp-config.php --> define('WP_TEMP_DIR','/tmp');
- Save the file
Those three simple steps solve the problem, at least it worked for me.
Tale of three gamers
I have the same problem as allot of the war-gamers, I’m way to impulsive.
I only have to see new armies or miniatures and I want to buy them.
That’s not only costly but that also means that I have way to much unpainted/unassembled miniatures laying around.
Luckily I’m not the only impulsive member of the Thunderbolts Ghent. Together with two other club members I decided to start a “tale of three gamers”. The most tales that take place are mostly very ambitious and we weren’t really feeling like stressing ourselves to finish all the minis on time. Together we came to an agreement and decided to follow these simple rules:
- We have two month’s the time to finish a part of the tale.
- Everyone has to point the same point value of minis (we chose a simple 250pts)
- We don’t have to worry about the Force Organisation Chart.
I chose to start with Chaos Daemon army, mainly because I really like the chaos gods.
HeadhunterFS will start a bad moon Ork army, and finally Xytonion has his mind set on a Skulltaker Chaos Marine army. For the first part we decided to paint one Hq and one troop choice. I’ll be painting a unit of ten Daemonettes and The Masque (which I will use as a herald of Slaanesh). I ain’t really sure what the others will be painting but I heard the word Gretchins fall.
The first batch is supposed to be finished at the end of august, then we’ll also play a few small skirmishes with or “armies”. When this happened I’ll post some a small report and some obligatory pictures. I just hope i’ll make the deadline
